Wegovy Pill side effects
Common effects, serious warnings, and when to seek urgent medical help.
Very common and common effects
GLP-1 medicines often affect the digestive system, especially during titration. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, stomach pain, burping, and bloating are frequently reported. Headache, tiredness, or dizziness can also occur. Not everyone experiences these symptoms, and many improve as your body adjusts.
Low blood sugar (if you have diabetes)
If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea, semaglutide can increase the risk of hypoglycaemia. Know the symptoms (sweating, shaking, confusion) and follow your diabetes care plan. Your prescriber may adjust other medicines when starting Wegovy Pill.
Serious effects — seek urgent help
Rare but serious problems can include pancreatitis (severe ongoing abdominal pain, sometimes with vomiting), allergic reactions with breathing difficulty or swelling, and gallbladder disease. Yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, or severe dehydration also need urgent assessment. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 999 or go to A&E.
Patient information leaflet
Always read the PIL supplied with your medicine for the complete list of side effects, warnings, and interactions. If a side effect is troublesome, contact your prescriber before stopping treatment — dose changes or supportive care may help.
