Practical guidance on dosing, storage, side effects, and comparing Wegovy injection with Wegovy Pill.
The Wegovy pill is taken once daily, every day. It should be taken in the morning on an empty stomach.
Take one Wegovy pill first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with a small sip of plain water (up to 4 ounces / about 120 ml). After taking the pill, wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking, or taking any other oral medicines. Swallow the tablet whole: do not crush, cut, chew, or dissolve it.
Your healthcare professional will usually start you on a lower daily dose and may increase the dose gradually, often around every 30 days, depending on tolerance and response. Dose increases are not automatic and may be delayed or adjusted based on side effects and appetite response.
There is no fixed treatment duration. Continued use depends on regular review with your prescriber to assess effectiveness, tolerability, and ongoing suitability. Wegovy is intended to be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
Take the Wegovy pill in the morning, on an empty stomach, and ideally at the same time each day.
Store Wegovy pills at room temperature in a dry place, in the original container. Do not use tablets that look damaged or discoloured.
Like all medicines, Wegovy can cause side effects. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea are commonly reported, especially when starting treatment or increasing dose. In many people these effects lessen as the body adjusts. A full side effect list is provided with your medicine.

There is no single right option. Some people prefer a once-weekly injection; others prefer a daily tablet and are happy with the timing rules. Your prescriber will consider your lifestyle, preferences, medical history, and treatment response when advising what is most suitable.
"In my clinical experience, the most effective weight-loss treatment is one that fits realistically into a person’s daily life. Some patients prefer the simplicity of a once-weekly injection, while others feel more comfortable taking a daily tablet. What matters most is choosing an option you can use consistently and safely, alongside long-term lifestyle changes." - Dr Ruch Karunadasa, Chief Medical Officer
"Medications like Wegovy can be a helpful tool for weight loss, but they are not a quick fix. We assess suitability carefully and review treatment regularly to support safe, sustainable progress." - Dr Ruch Karunadasa, Chief Medical Officer
