Medication effect duration

Once prepared, the resulting Zineryt cutaneous is stable for 8 weeks and is applied to the affected area of the skin twice daily.

Frequently asked questions about Zineryt solution

  • How does Zineryt work

Common bacteria, found on the skin, feed on the sebum produced by the sebaceous glands found in skin cells. The waste products of this feeding process can cause irritation to the skin causing inflammation and the appearance of spots. The antibiotic present in Zineryt (erythromycin) attacks this group of bacteria, reducing the likelihood of inflammation and the development of spots.

  • What should I do if I apply/take too much or miss a dose?

If you miss your dose of Zineryt then this should be applied as soon as possible. If your application is close to the time of your next dose, then you should leave a minimum of 3 hours between the doses.

Overdosage is highly unlikely with normal usage of Zineryt. Signs of a hypersensitivity reaction should be treated by washing the skin with copious amount of warm soapy water.

  • How long does it take Zineryt to work?

The time it would normally take Zineryt to work can be different for each patient. Some patients may start to notice a difference within the first week of using the treatment, whereas others may have to wait several weeks before a difference is noticed. The recommended treatment length is a minimum of 10-12 weeks. After this time, patients should be able to determine whether the treatment has worked for them or not.

  • How do I use Zineryt?

Detailed instructions on how to prepare the solution are present within the patient information leaflet provided. Once the powder and solvent have been mixed together, the resultant solution is stable for eight weeks.

You should wash your hands thoroughly and apply the solution twice daily (morning and night) all over the affected area (not just the spots). The frequency may be reduced to once daily at the start of treatment if hypersensitivity reactions are reported. If too much solution is applied, remove any excess by blotting with a dry and clean tissue. You should not apply any additional creams, ointments, cosmetics, etc. until the solution has completed dried.
