Titration schedule
The MHRA-approved Wegovy pill dosage schedule is designed to gradually introduce the medication to your body, minimising side effects while maximising results.
- 1.5 mg once daily for the first month
- Increased to 4 mg once daily for the second month
- Then 9 mg once daily for the third month
- Up to the 25 mg once daily maintenance dose, reached gradually if tolerated
It is incredibly important that dose increases are never rushed. You should only follow a dose escalation plan structured and approved by your PrivateDoc prescriber.
Missed dose
If you forget to take your pill in the morning, skip the missed dose and continue as normal the next day. Do not double your next dose to make up for a missed day.
If several doses in a row are missed (specifically a break of 14 days or more), you will lose your tolerance to the medication and must restart from the lowest introductory dose. Never self-adjust your dosing; always contact our clinical team.
Maximum dose and tolerability
There is a licensed maximum daily dose for oral semaglutide. If side effects limit how quickly you can titrate, your clinician may pause increases or reduce to the last tolerated dose. Treatment goals and tolerability are reviewed together.
