Tadalafil

Tadalafil is the generic and cheaper version of the drug Cialis, containing the same active ingredient.

Tadalafil is used for the treatment of impotence, also known as erectile dysfunction (ED), and is available by prescription.

Tadalfil uses the same active ingredient as Cialis delivering the same exceptional results to men suffering with impotence, enhancing the natural reaction to stimulation and opening up the blood flow needed for erections. The effects can last up to 36 hours from taking a single tablet, by increasing the time span means that men who take Tadalafil do not need to plan so much before having sex, and the Tadalafil tablet can be taken much more discretely.

The cGMP nucleotide is released during arousal and plays an important role in the chemistry of achieving an erection. The cGMP nucleotide causes the muscles in the walls of the penis to relax allowing more blood to flow. For men that suffer with impotence there is an imbalance between the cGMP nucleotide and the PDE-5 enzyme, making erections more difficult to achieve and maintain.

Tadalafil works by maintaining the level of cGMP in the smooth muscle cells. If you are not mentally sexually aroused, your brain will not stimulate the release of any nitric oxide and you will not produce increased levels of cGMP.

Tadalafil works quickly and can last up to 4 times longer than Viagra and Levitra. The duration of its effectiveness has made it a popular choice with men who want greater spontaneity in their sex lives rather than planning to take a pill and to have intercourse. It is not surprising that it is referred to as the "weekend pill". Tadalafil is currently available in two dosages, 10mg and 20mg.

Like any other prescription medication you must consult a doctor before using it.

PrivateDoc offers a confidential free consultation service that may result in you receiving a prescription for Tadalafil if the doctor diagnoses Erectile Dysfunction and can prescribe Tadalafil tablets safely.

HOW DOES TADALAFIL WORK?

Tadalafil contains the active ingredient tadalafil, which works to inhibit the PDE-5 enzyme that breaks down the cGMP nucleotide associated with increased blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation. Tadalafil works in the same manner as Viagra however the longer half-life distinguishes it from sildenafil, meaning that it is effective for longer. The inhibition of Phosphodiesterase type 5, PDE-5, by Tadalafil means that is has no direct effect without direct sexual stimulation of the penis.

Tadalafil is available in two dosages, 10mg and 20mg, allowing the patient to take the most appropriate dosage for their condition.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Commonly reported side effects in patients taking Tadalafil include back pain, muscle aches, facial flushing, nasal congestion, dizziness and indigestion.

A full list of side effects are available in the Patient Information Leaflet.

The following are reasons why Tadalafil may also not be suitable for you. If any of them apply to you, talk to your doctor before you take the medicine:

  • You have sickle cell anaemia (an abnormality of red blood cells), multiple myeloma (cancer of the bone marrow), leukaemia (cancer of the blood cells) or any deformation of your penis.
  • You have a serious liver problem.
  • You have a severe kidney problem.

DO NOT TAKE TADALAFIL IF

  • you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Tadalafil or any of the other ingredients in the tablets.
  • you are taking any form of organic nitrate or nitric oxide donors such as amyl nitrite. This is a group of medicines ("nitrates") used in the treatment of angina pectoris ("chest pain"). Tadalafil has been shown to increase the effects of these medicines. If you are taking any form of nitrate or are unsure tell your doctor.
  • you have serious heart disease or have had a recent heart attack.
  • you have had a recent stroke.
  • you have low blood pressure or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
  • you have ever had loss of vision because of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), a condition sometimes described as “stroke of the eye”.

Tadalafil is not intended for use by women or by adolescents under the age of 18.

HOW TO TAKE TADALAFIL

The recommended starting dose is one 10 mg tablet before sexual activity. If the effect of this dose is too weak your doctor may increase the dose to 20 mg. Tadalafil tablets are for oral use. Swallow the tablet whole with some water. You may takeTadalafil with or without food.

You may take aTadalafil tablet at least 30 minutes before sexual activity.Tadalafil may still be effective up to 36 hours after taking the tablet. It is important to note that Tadalafil does not work if there is no sexual stimulation. You and your partner will need to engage in foreplay, just as you would if you were not taking a medicine for erectile dysfunction.

Drinking alcohol may affect your ability to get an erection. Drinking alcohol may temporarily lower your blood pressure. If you have taken or are planning to take Tadalafil, avoid excessive drinking (blood alcohol level of 0.08% or greater), since this may increase the risk of dizziness when standing up.

You should NOT take Tadalafil more than once a day. Tadalafil 10 mg and 20 mg is intended for use prior to anticipated sexual activity and is not recommended for continuous daily use.

If you take more Tadalafil than you should tell your doctor.

The longer lasting effects of Tadalafil mean that it continues to be effective for up to 36 hours after it is taken.
