How does Vaniqa work?
Vaniqa can have long lasting results against unwanted facial hair. The Vaniqa cream reduces the growth of hair from the roots.
The Vaniqa product is specifically formulated for women with thick, coarse facial hair.
What is Vaniqa?
Vaniqa (eflornithine) is prescription only medicine and this is only licensed for use on the face.
How to use Vaniqa
Vaniqa should be applied twice per day and with at least 8 hours between applications. It should be applied to areas of the face with increased hairgrowth, this is usually the chin, jawline, cheeks or top lip.
How does the medication work?
Vaniqa contains an active incredient which is known as eflornithine. This penetrates the skins and acts on the base of the hair follicle to reduce new hair growth by inhibiting the enzyme that stimulates the growth of hair.
The results from using Vaniqa
The results differ between patients, however you should expect to see results from between 8 weeks and 4 months of commencing the use of Vaniqa.
If you do not see any resuilts from using Vaniqa after 4 months you should stop using the medicine.
Vaniqa Side Effects
It is uncommon for patients to suffer side effects from using Vaniqa, however like all prescription medications side effects can occur.
Vaniqa can cause a stinging of teh skin, tingling, soreness and redness.
Acne is also a known side effect although this is uncommon.
It is rare for Vaniqa use to be discontinued because of the side effects. Generally side effects, if any, are very mild.
